Head Coach & Offensive Coordinator
Coach Steinfeldt comes to BCHS by way of Aztec High School in NM. During his 8 years at Aztec, they advanced to the NM State
Playoffs 7 times, the state Quarter-Finals 5 times, and made 1 appearance in the state Semi-Finals. While in NM his offenses consistently ranked at the top of the state in numerous categories each season.
As a leader of men, Coach Steinfeldt believes that we must win in everything we do. Every day presents an opportunity to be a success or a failure. We will evaluate ourselves and our team’s direction each day and instill a work ethic systemically into the football program.
Chief of Staff
Coach Segovia is a BCHS Alumni, class of 2000. He has amazing memories of his HS football days and wants every player to leave school with the same love of the game. He is excited to work with the program both on and off the field with the goal of achieving high levels of success academically and as we make a run for the championship.
Coach O'Brien is a 2004 graduate of Monarch High School in Louisville, Colorado and a 2009 graduate of the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). He began his coaching career at UNC as a graduate student. He previously held the role of the head football coach at Hinkley High School (Aurora, CO) and Citrus High School (Inverness, FL). Coach O'Brien also brings experience coaching defensive backs at the Colorado School of Mines and as the defensive coordinator at Broomfield HS.
Quarterbacks & Co-Offensive Coordinator
Coach Shefferly has been living and breathing football since he was 7 years old. He started coaching football 16 years ago starting with the Parker Hawks Youth organization. Over the last 5 years, he has had various positions coaching at Ponderosa HS. His overall high school varsity win/loss record is 47-13 including playoffs. He is a former college and Semi Pro quarterback who played at Adam State College and for the Denver Titans Semi Pro team here in Colorado. Coach Shefferly is very excited to be part of the Bear Creek family and hopes to help do his part in our return to relevance.
Coach Shefferly has been coaching youth and high school football for the last 20 years. He has worn many hats over the years from head coach, on the board of youth sports, to O-line coach, to private trainer. His specialization is the Offensive line and blocking techniques. Most recently he was one of the offensive line coaches at Ponderosa HS, helping the varsity team as an assistant and the lead O-line coach for the freshman team. He has run O-line camps and individual workouts for various linemen over the last 20 years and is looking forward to bringing his experience to Bear Creek.
Coach Wahlke has coached youth football (AYL) and high school football in Parker, CO for the last 7 years. During this time he was a position coach for Wide Receivers, Offensive line and Defensive Backs. Last year he was the OC for the Ponderosa Freshman team. This is his first year at Bear Creek and he is excited to have the opportunity to be a part of our new program.
Special Teams Coordinator
Coach Lafave has coached several sports in his career: 9 seasons of baseball (6 as a head coach), 7 seasons as a basketball head coach and 10 seasons of football (4 as a head coach). He has a Master's in Education and is married with two children. When he is not coaching, he enjoys skiing, hiking, fishing, camping and restoring old vehicles.
Coach Mayorga is an alumnus of Colorado State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in
Marketing and a minor in History. He began his coaching career in 2010 as head coach of a youth Football team in Fort Collins, CO. During this time as head coach, he worked with multiple positions on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. He strives for attention to detail on the field and in the classroom and pushes his players to be exceptional student athletes. Having moved back to CO from Ohio in December of 2020, THE 2021 season is Coach Mayorga’s first
year at BCHS. He is thrilled to be a part of the BC family and looks forward to assisting this program in becoming one of the best in the state.
Coach Dirschl is a BCHS Alumni, Class of 2005. He is an avid football fan and much of his life has prominently featured playing and coaching football. He believes that football can help emphasize many of the foundational points of life. Coaching football is about trust, teamwork, work ethic, mental toughness, and discipline. He hopes that everyone that passes through the football program at Bear Creek leaves with the same appreciation and love of the game as he did.
